Licenses. Usually, buying, your pet is assigned a number that is still in a database. The tags are attached to the collar of the pet. If your pet is, the animal control officer can check the tag number of the collar, and call to let you know they have a pet.

Microchip. A microchip is a small electronic chip, about the size of a grain of rice that is implanted under the skin of the pet. It is administered quickly and painlessly with a simple injection.
